just another....
hi all,
i had a vague vision of this model for a couple of weeks. last night i sat down to try and make it. no sketch, just silo-z2 improv. it took me 3-4 hr to get to this stage. also first time i used topology brush for modeling purposes (not counting some tests). it's not going to be animated (or anything else). just a quick modeling session + testing a new workflow. workflow: ![]() Z: ![]() Last edited by 3dEE; 01-20-2006 at 06:13 AM. |

Cool chap that!
I really enjoy your models mate. Nice workflow. Been taking a break might post another model sometime soon (?) I'm still convinced that Silo is a super modeller  Cheers --JC |

I agree with Web (about taking a break also
). The model looks nice for only have worked on it for a few hours! I like seeing how you've utilized the topology brush for this one too. Inspiring. Nice use of Zbrush too. ![]()

Did you play with the merge tolerance on the topology brush? It looks like it didn't do a very good job at generating the mesh from the lines.

as you suspected, i did not test the merge tolerance well.
the mesh i got after the execution of the topology brush looks much worse than it realy is. it did not take me much to clean it up tho. one question, once i 'draw' the strokes > and after that change any of the settings, should they be applied once i execute the TB? eg having drawn the strokes once, and being able to test different settings applied to the strokes? (for now, i can't seem to make it work) did a couple of tests: i can't seem to be able to change any of the settings. if i change any of the TB settings and go back to the TB options...i see all of the old (initial) settings again. (i tried it on this alien model with old strokes; then restarted silo and tried on a sphere - the settings are still the same; again tried to change them....same thing (at least that's how it is portrayed in the options window)) ...it might be a possible bug in my case. let me know if you are interested in some more info/testing on my side, i'd be glad to help. (i can send you the SIA file as well) |

We're in the process of fixing this right now, but you probably just need to press Enter after you type in each value. Let us know if that doesn't work.

![]() thanx, it's good you made it so that you can mess with the settings even after the strokes are applied. here's what turned out after a couple of settings tweaks, much better than before. ![]() Last edited by 3dEE; 01-20-2006 at 06:14 AM. |
