New ground for me. Toys....

I've been working on a few toy idea this last week. Take a look at my blog and follow where I'm upto. It's not Spawn level stuff rather a mixture of Dunny Toys and Duplo.

Silo is of course my modeling tool of choice of this project.

I'm just getting quotes for the first 3D print of Ivor and I can't wait.

Keep us posted Glen, this is something that interests me too. Its a nice cute character, id nearly warm the skin tone up in that render and add some IBL+HDR reflections(a nice warm coloured room or something). It would really make it pop.

Cheers Roger. Good call on the render. Wayne R did the last render for me last night so I need a proper lighting setup done. I want to keep it as a product shot so it will only be a bare background but the HDRI, materials and lighting are all up for change.

So far the quote is £60 inc Vat for a 75mm print. I'll keep you posted as a few folks have shown interest.

Roger, what email addy should I send a model to? I'd love for you to have a go at some product shots for me if you don't mind.

I'll link to some product images I want to emulate:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4OYGjUrdll...aafebbb8e2.jpg
http://theregoesdave.com/wp-content/...t_pattys_3.jpg

I just want a really plain background that has no horizon. The material for the toy needs to be less glossy/more mat but still have some reflecticity to pick up the HDRI. I want to make some packaging as well so I would want to add that into a scene later.

Thanks for the help and I'll plaster your credits everywhere

G

Hey Mr. Southern,

That is a pretty cool model. I admit I'm a sucker for this kind of work. It's a refreshing break from the hyper-realism monsters and scantly clad women.

Hell yeah. Yoshii is in my top ten artist list and has been for years. I remember seeing his first ZBrush models around 2000 and knew he was breaking new ground. I think he is a big Mudbox user now.

Funny little guy! I like him!
I wonder how he would look with a layerd shader with anisotropic as base and a phong or blinn as gloss and reflection layer giving you two kinds of speculars in one mat.
Similar to a car shader.
