**NEW** WEEKLY MODELING SESSION: Week 013 Alien Overlord
Ok, week thirteen. Sorry for my absence but as you may know I'm not around very much in the summer months. I'll try to keep the sessions going but I may need a little help through June-August. This week we go back to a pencil sketch and we can do the first of a series of Aliens. This is one of the Alien overloards and in coming weeks I'll provide sketches for the minions and underlings.
![]() COMMENTS: Go as far as you can with basic polygon tools before sculptinh of going out to Mudbox or ZBrush. Get some real detail in the head area. Good luck and enjoy!

Hi Glen,
i not that Organic Pro so i need it to make a side view to begin my model and if you dont mind i can share my side view. ATENTION! On the top where the shoulders are, its not exactly how Gelns made. Happy modeling. XBO Last edited by xbo; 06-16-2009 at 07:56 PM. |

Digging this character design Glen. Looks like he could live in the Starship Troopers universe or something. Not much to show, just spent an hour box modeling a base mesh in Silo.
![]() Some initial sculpting in ZB... ![]() 2009 06 19 - Turntable

Very nice work. Are you going to use Displacement brush and stay in Silo? Or will you eventually move to ZB or 3DC?

Coming along nicely, I'd say. In Silo, did you just box model and extrude to get your basic shape?

Hi guys really nice models, i couldt resist.
A Zerg, Alien, Tyranid concept... WesVasher - hope you'll take it futher in zb, now you are started ![]() Xbo sad to hear you had that many crashes. I actually recorded some video of my modeling, wanted to record it all, but forgot to turn it on later (used that free jing program but it can only record 5min then you'll have to make a new recording annoying, and too most lag in the end. I'll try to put the it together if someone is interested.heres my take on it. pure silo'ing. Might take it to zb. ![]() /cheers guys |

MarkInTX, If I use the displacement brush it will have to be in Silo. because I don't have ZB and 3DC won't open on my computer. Very disappointing! I haven't had much luck with the displacement brush. It goes wonkey!!
xbo, crashes are really aggravating. Thanks!!

Great models all! WesVasher: really liked where you was taking it. Xbo: damm 50 crashes! do you use the mirror symmetry? theres a lot of issues with that. Alltough i use it, cause its cool looking forward to week14 - can see the theme is the same - hope i'll get some time. /cheers |

My kid used Fraps to record in game action, so I am guessing that one has little lag (and is free IIRC). Videos watching someone work are always interesting for me, so I would love to see you do one.
