**NEW** WEEKLY MODELING SESSION: Week 012 XBO Vehicle
Ok, week twelve of the Silo sessions and our first go at a car. This one has been designed by our very own XBO. If this is your first go at a vehicle then go for the basic overall shape. Not for the fainthearted methinks!
![]() COMMENTS: If you find it a big project then do a small portion for practice or do the wheels perhaps! Good luck and enjoy!

Looking good XBO and Southern! Don't think I'll participate, still have to finish that saxophone from last week
![]() For the rims btw, they look awfully close to those on a Mercedes SLR. Link. Maybe that'll help someone get going? |

Hey XBO, I'm doing fine, thank you. How about yourself?
That'd be cool though, I think I'll have my hands full for the coming week on that Saxophone. But if that's finished I'm more than happy to try out to model this ride. ![]() |

Hi Guys,
Cool car xbo. I noticed you call for some changes, does that mean we can modify the car. I think we could change the headlight, grill and taillight, where you noted the kneed for style changes. Here's where I got to today.

BTW i forgot to draw also the line that run front the front to the back wheel. You can choose that long one hows run from the front to the rear are that one thats begin from the rear wheel and ends at the front door. Quote:
![]() The point here ist to make a nice hard surfaces. Quote:

Hi xbo,
Here's how far I got today. It's really hard to make crisp lines for the windows. I put in a grill , but I don;t like it. I'll change it tomarrow.

Hi Paul,
i think you lost a bit the proportions. I like your updates special the front. BUT! Try to make some sharp edges, cause looks like the car i loosing some weight. What i mean by that is that the car doesnt looks robust. I prepare the view to made all more easy. I hope this help you all to do the car. The read lines are just indications. i.e adding the 2 doors per each side and the red lines in the front is just an indication where the surface change direction. If you have any question... just drop me a message. ![]() Cheers XBO |

XBO vehicle
Here is my attempt so far. The wheels look slightly different because I've drawn wheel motors not big disk brakes.

@ Starbuck,
Quote:
Hi jenn109, how you doing? As i can see you use my draw lines. I forgot to say that that proportions are just for 3 doors. If you want to have a 5 doors you need to stretch the drawing. I like your up dates. They are really cool. I like the way you solve the headlamps. I like better than the part i made in front of the car. There are some places that ill exchange and make a bit harder, but its a matter of free design. @ Paul, hi mate. Glad to see you here. The big problem you will have is cutting the doors. Try to follow with your Edges the cut door to make it easier to cut the doors latter on. I will try to make some Over paints to explain my self on weekend. I wish you a happy modeling and !Keep it up guys! Cheers XBO Last edited by xbo; 06-12-2009 at 09:21 AM. |

XBO Vehicle update
Here is the latest version. I wanted to take the front end a step further and add a chrome grill accent. The "B" pillar takes on an aggresive angle. The shape of the headlights has also evolved to become a bit more sculptural. I have started to cut in the seam lines for the doors.
XBO, any advice that you could give on this subject would be great. Your attached render is fantastic, I love the setting and the vehicle is stunning! Paul, I really like the direction that your concept is taking. Thanks again to XBO for sketch. jenn109 Last edited by jenn109; 06-12-2009 at 03:14 PM. |

Well done Jenn109 on the model this week. Thanks to XBO for the model and the good examples, and Everett Paul Stretch for an excellent effort as well. Keep up the good modeling.

XBO vehicle
Thanks Starbuck for the congrats. XBO provided a great sketch and it has been very much fun working on the concept. Paul I enjoyed seeing your design work on the concept as well. I will continue to detail the vehicle and keep updating the work. Thanks also to David and Nevercenter for selecting my entry.
XBO, I need some advice on making the door and body seam look clean. To make the door I copied the polygons that make up the door surfaces and then deleted the matching polys on the main vehicle body. I then extruded the edges to create folded sheetmetal, like an actual car door. I then creased the edges of both door and car body, but I am getting visual noise at the seams (see side elevation). Do you have any tips or should the concept be scaled to a certain size to eliminate these? Thanks again Jenn109 |
