**NEW** WEEKLY MODELING SESSION: Week 010 Polardog

Ok, week ten and a little late so not as much time to nail this little puppy. This week we are back to modeling a creature from a pencil sketch. This creature is somewhere between a polar bear and a dog of some type with large poweful front limbs and a big wet nose

COMMENTS:

Box model the over all shape then rework the muscles on the front legs until they bulge from the screen.

Good luck and enjoy!

hello again,
it has been a while but when i saw this weeks session i realy wanted to be a part of it. so i dropped all i was doing, told my boss to go for a walk and started lol (well the boss part was maybe a little lie :p)

here's where i am so far. still having some tris and n-gons here and there but i'll fix those in the next stage.
I find the head a bit tricky, specially around the eye.but nose and brow are there so that's something.
also the front paws...something about them i don't like but they defenetly will have to be adjusted alot.
Anyways, c&c most welcome and it's good to be back

Hi everyone,
the concept drawing looks very cool, so I'll try to take part in this session as well. So far I've nearly finished the "Minotour" and some other tutorials from nevercenter, so I have no idea if I will be able to manage and finish this one, but lets see! :-) I've been following these competitions a bit, and i think they're a great motivation and excellent to practice modelling. At least I don't get things finished if there isn't a deadline ;-)
So, here what i did today so far

Hi Paul,
WOW just another great model from you.
Looks great.

Could you please post a base wire frame?
For me is interesting how you make your models, cause so far i can see, you use the box modeling and for details you paint over. Is that right?

@ all,
thank you for the support you gave me answering me question in forum.

Cheers
XBO

Really had no time the last and this week, however, I wanted to post what I managed to do until the last time I opened Silo. I will for sure try to finish this one, as the concept is cool. I was struggling a bit with the muscles (they are not finished of cause). Other artists would probably start displacement painting now or switch to another app or does anyone really model all these details? Anyway, I think it already looks quite cool for the amount of polys.

Hey Paul... how you doing mate.
Looks really great. I like the new updates.

It is possible to see your model from top?
Are you planing to finish this one completely?

Just a suggestion:
I think you need to rotate a bit the back legs just like you did for the front legs to give a dynamic touch.

@ aurelio,
take your time and if really want to finish this one, do that.
As you said. The Topic is really cool and i want also to finish this model.
I will make the inside mouth from this guy and after that move to the UV mapping. I dont have any idea how to do but let see what i can done. I made some test for my last model but i couldnt finish the Uv mapping for the other one.

In the model from Paul and my model the details was everything modeled without painting a displacements.

Happy modeling guys.

Cheers
XBO

Hi xbo,

I'm doing pretty good. I think I'm done with this one. Mostly I just model, my rendering has been done in Strata 3D and I still haven't figured displacement mapping.

Looking at it rather than move the legs I turned the back feet out a little.
