Reviving my old fiat, and finishing it finally (Abarth)

After a long time I revived my fiat again to make it complete, still a lot of detailing to do..

Very nice, Curt.
I really like the snap-on roof cover, and the soft, almost airbrushed look of the render.
It looks quite retro.

Excellent work with great attention to detail, Curt. You may have discussed before, but what renderer are you using for this?

Wow very nice! It looks very clean! It has a Pixar feel to the colors, I think.

I'd also like to know what Renderer you used. Also, is this all Silo?

Sorry for the very late reply guys, I've been very busy at work.

Thanks for the compliments!!
I'm using Maxwell render for all my stuff, I modelled everything in Silo, exported as *obj and imported into Rhino, and of-course used the Maxwell plug-in.

I'm also working on an Abarth version, my reference is a complete rebuild Fiat 500 Abarth of a friend of mine here are some first wip renders:

Sweet model! How do you handle a heavily subdivided mesh in Rhino (as I suspect this one must be in order to be so smooth)? I haven't been able to get Rhino to deal with large polygon meshes, it becomes very, very slow.

Hi Wirebird, thanks!!

No problems here, I import my model in parts, to import the complete model all at once is indeed a bit much.
Here is some geometry information:

Geometry:

- Num Meshes: 65

- Num Triangles: 1433864

- Num Vertexes: 720417

- Num Normals: 702315

Thanks for the details, Curt, that is indeed a heavy mesh for Rhino. You probably know this already, but if not: I found that Rhino's performance can be improved significantly by using layers and turning visibility off for items that need not be visible until final render.

What incredibly clear renders.
Beautiful job on this Curt.
I like it all - right down to the stylized scorpion graphic.

It took some time but I finally got those vents in correctly without damaging the flow of the surrounding surfaces

Also the colouration of the sunroof is much better now

Thanks Curt, looks good. I've been wondering about the use of Silo for hard surface modeling, but it seems to be rather capable. However, I do miss a lot of features from Rhino such as some snap and alignment options. Perhaps they will come in future versions. (I know Rhino is a nurbs modeler so a comparison is a bit off, but its not nurbs features I'm missing).

coming along nicely. I had to look up some references to find any flaws. I think you should sharpen that top corner of the rear windows. I goes more parallel with the B-pillar.
