Anatomy study

Hi Silo users. I'm working on a new anatomy study and thought since today is halloween I'd post the first wip.

This base mesh is being build using Silo and will then get the zbrush treatment.

Man.. that's awesome...

One thing, the rib cage looks to come down a little to far?

Thanks BJMonkey!

Your rib cage really does come close to your Pelvis. Don't believe? Try this... The top of your pelvis is roughly the same height as your navel, next reach back to your side and you can feel the bottom of your ribs which just a bit bellow your elbow. Now look how far away those two point are, closer than you thought?

I'm working with on this project with the help from an anatomical artist who studied under Hale and Goldfinger.(aparently most skeletons you see are not properly articulated. Dr Paul Richer has the most accurate drawings of the curve of the spine.)

Maybe, but it looks a little off...

I don't know, I'll wait until you've done a bit more of the body to compare it to.

But I'm not sure what you mean by the most accurate curvature of the spine... The most accurate curvature of who's spine?

Meaning the curve of the spine of a person with average good posture. Of course everyone is a little different and there are lots of examples of "Faulty Posture" like people with a Flat Back, Round Back or Sway back. With someone with a flat back, the ribs will be further apart since the curve is almost comletely gone in the spine. That's what he meant when he said most skeletons are not articulated very well. Anway, that's getting a bit esoteric, I'll post more as I go along.

Really great model!

Are you using the sculpt tools in silo to do any of this or is it just straight poly+smooth?

Its very impressive

Mr.Bone looks awesome. That is a good modell to use as a background for modelling humaniod characters.

Nice!
Be great to have a video for just one part of the skeleton as a Silo primer.

Some constructive feedback

Hi,

Overall great job. There are some parts which don't seem to be completely accurate though. Don't take this as criticism, just friendly advice. For example it seems to me that the way the zygomatic arch connects to temporal is not completely accurate. It gets thinner at the turn(twist) back to the temporal and widens again a little bit on the small flat piece connecting back to the temporal, from there a small ridge follows along the top of the auditory hiatus. I understand that this hard to see on the drawings of Richer but look at any real skull or good cast and you will see what I mean.

Still a great job and a great study.

Andre

I agree great job. In my oppinion it's very good not over-complicating things. Modelling bones other than a skull and connecting them logically is a really tough job.

I wonder if such a model would be great for the Silo-Model library of the program. Cause it would make things easier when it comes to anatomical modelling of characters. You could load in that skeleton and model a simple basemesh according to the proportions of that mesh... just my two cents.

Cheers "ko'gen".
