Well, not to stray (again) too far from the original post but - you could always export the untrimmed surfaces. What I did, before I got comfortable with WINGS, was to convert the characters I did in RHINO to polys but I had to untrim the surfaces to maintain a good clean flow while keeping the count light. Once in WINGS, I'd just retrim the polys by deleting any polygons I didn't need. Took forever to get it right but then I found SILO 1 and it made it so much easier (WINGS is a solids modeler, Silo isn't). So Silo was the perfect choice for going from NURBS to polys, as long as I used untrimmed surfaces. I wouldn't even need to retopo anything.
So, that's a possiblity. Silo 2's snapping feature is great for retopo work though, if you decide to go that route. I'd still much rather learn hard surfaces via polys outright though, just so I can broaden my understanding of it. |

Cool.
![]() I'm not so familar with the Gundam series, but in my mind that big mech (lol) looks like that. Okay there was more blue and white but especially the face is great. The only thing that doesn't fit the rest of the detailed body are the hands. They look a bit under detailed compared to the rest. The feet are very cool, the torso as well great job. ![]() Cheers "ko'gen".

I think it's pretty much done, I might revisit it later on, or in zbrush to add finer details. I'll probably change some proportions with lattices in Maya... especially to have it move better. I think it will look alot better in pose.

Yeah, really nice. Seems like this is just the beginning of the hardest part: Rigging ^^
Cheers "ko'gen".

Thatīs really great. To me hard surface is not siloīs strong part. I lack construction history. Is it possible to rig him? that woulīd be awesome.

Incroyable! Very Nice. Could we please see an image of what the mesh looks like, maybe a close-up in the left shoulder area, to have an understanding of how you are getting the hard surface effect with the poly's? Thanks!
Plus, for RogerKnightly, and anyone else interested in the Evangelion carrier, here is a link to a vehicle that was done over in the X-Plane world by "dad", on page 2 of a thread: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?...ic=28075&st=10 Might need to be logged in to see the jpeg's. |

When you get done with this, let me put it in a Unreal Tournament map. I'll build a CTF around it.
