Description:
   
    The Show Manipulator (Display > Show Manipulator) option, when unchecked, allows you to work without the manipulators.  You'll probably want to assign the Constrain commands to keyboard shortcuts or mouse buttons if you're working in this way.  You can also make your own manipulator-centered button page to essentially create your own completely-customized manipulator.


Notes:

-When you have the main manipulator turned off, you can leave the alternate manipulator on to see which type of transformation is active (move, rotate, etc).
